our DJ agreement

Welcome to the Mojo Radio Online DJ application form. This page helps to explain the process for becoming a DJ on Mojo Radio, our expectations, and the station’s rules.

Online DJ Agreement Part 1:

How to Apply and Testing Requirements.

All applying broadcasters must be of legal age and considered an adult in their country of residence. In the United States, this is 18 years of age. We institute this policy because many of our shows contain adult content. By continuing to read, agreeing to these terms, and filling out the application, you certify that you are of legal age. Should Mojo Radio management learn you are not of legal age, you will immediately be removed from the staff.

In order to be considered for becoming a DJ at Mojo Radio, you must fill out the DJ application and test on our test server. Managers will make the final decision as to whether or not you will be joining the station. However, you’r are welcome to invite anyone to listen to your test, which will be conducted on the link below.

In addition, management always posts to the staff email list, inviting the rest of our staff to listen to said tests and to give their input. The test itself will last one hour, in which you show us what you plan to do on-air, do a few voice-breaks so that we get a feel for your delivery, and the like. We will work out the time which works best for you as well as our management team. Due to time differences, this may mean the test does not take place as quickly as we’d like, but it will happen as soon as possible with respect to the schedules of all parties involved.

In order to be considered for a position, broadcasters must possess their own microphone. We can generally help you with a free basic set up for Winamp and the encoders, though if you wish to use other software please feel free. Otherwise, please provide all requested information so that we can get the process started. Phone number is helpful, but not required.

Part 2:

Your Responsibilities As A Staff Member.

1. If you sign up for a shift, be there to do that shift. We understand emergencies happen, but if you know you won’t be available to do your show, you must get a message into the staff list, preferably within 24 hours of said shift. Again, we understand that things may happen with work, school, or life in general. Managers check the staff list frequently, so while a message to one of us is extremely helpful, it’s not required. Three missed shows without notifying staff and management may result in termination of your show.

2. If a DJ is scheduled to go on after you, please be prepared to finish your shift on time. We ask that DJ’s keep in touch with the person going on before them and after them to allow for as smooth a transition as possible. You may do this through your personal messengers, or through any other contact method, though MSN is preferred. This helps us stick to our schedule. If someone is on before you, we do require that you notify that person at least ten minutes prior to your shift to let said DJ know that you’re ready to go on time…This is also the case if you think you may be a few minutes late. This way, the on-air DJ can add extra songs to his/her playlist to cover the time, or can let you know if he/she chooses to flip to our automation service, insuring as little dead air as possible.

3. You need to be signed in to and use the station messengers. You’re welcome to use personal messengers on your shows, though you don’t have to give your personal messengers out, but you do need to use, and give out, station messengers so that listeners may interact with you.

4. Do not give out log-in information for station servers, control panels, or Auto DJ systems to which you may be granted access. If this happens, and you’re found out, this is cause for immediate removal from the mojo staff.

5. If you run into technical problems or trouble getting on-air, kicking the Auto DJ system, or things of that nature, your first line of defense is to contact one of the managers. This is simply so we know what’s going on, in case it’s something that requires the attention of our host provider, or in case we need to make sure log files get downloaded before we move forward to get you on-air. Please do not go through another staff member, even if that staff member may have certain expertise. Management will in turn make the determination as to whether or not the task of getting a DJ in technical trouble on- air should be delegated to another technically-minded staff member.

6. Use your head. We have no restrictions on what you can or can’t play or say as far as language content. However, don’t do/say anything that could put the station, your fellow DJ’s, or management/ownership at risk or get us in legal trouble for which you yourself aren’t willing to take the fall. For instance, no asking listeners on-air to send you music illegally via Dropbox, MSN, or other means. What you ask of people by email or on your personal messengers is no concern of ours; what comes out of your mouth is.

7. Finally – Have fun. We’re all in this because we enjoy broadcasting, playing music for people, interacting with the general population, or for some other reason from which we gain some sort of pleasure. Never lose sight of that. Note that the proceeding agreement may be modified at anytime without notice. Should you want clarification on any matter listed above, please contact management.
