On Sunday, March 25, I had the chance to speak with an artist I’ve been a fan of since junior high, Darrell Dwarf Millar of Killer Dwarfs, Laidlaw, and his current project, Automan.
We discussed his history as drummer for the Dwarfs and for a Nikki Sixx southern rock outfit, Laidlaw, as well as his current band, Automan. Due to the short-lived telivision show of the same name, the band is commonly referred to as automan.ca (their website address, and legal name) to avoid confusion and to avoid wading through the DVD box sets for the TV show when fans look on Amazon and other retailers to purchase the band’s music.
Of course, most fans will know Darrell for his drumming. He’s switched to lead vocals in his current project, Automan, and he talked with me about the change, and how it wasn’t as difficult a transition for him as some would think. Listen to the interview, and you’ll find out why the transition was an easy thing for him to do.
Also, find out what his former bandmates are doing, and which Dwarfs member is now playing in the Canadian military band.
Darrell is a kind, witty, intelligent guy, and this was one of my absolute favorite interviews to do.
