Metal pioneer Willie Basse (Black Sheep, Buddy Miles) joined other celebs on the red carpet for the kick-off of the annual Sunset Strip Music Festival with a tribute to Mötley Crüe at House of Blues in West Hollywood, CA.
Celebrities on the red carpet included Mötley Crüe, DJ Ashba (Guns N’ Roses, Sixx:A.M.), Buckcherry, Dane Cook, Escape the Fate, David Johansen (New York Dolls), Ray Manzarek (The Doors), Neil Strauss (Rock author) and more.
Basse, who has just returned from a U.S. tour with Adler’s Appetite, featuring original Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler, is currently planning another U.S. Tour.
He and some of rock music’s biggest heavy hitters also took part in the recent benefit for the Skylar Neil Foundation. Some of those on hand included Daisy De La Hoya, Hardly Dangerous (Featuring James Brown’s widow Tomirae Brown and, Tommy Lee’s sister Athena) and Rosie and The Cobras, played throughout the day and into the evening as the night led up to the main event – an all-star benefit jam including Steven Adler (Adler’s Appetite, Guns N’ Roses), Chip Z’Nuff (Enuff Z’Nuff, Adler’s Appetite), Colby Veil (Dopesnake, ex-Adler’s Appetite), Stacey Blades (LA Guns), Nadir D’Priest (London), Daisy De La Hoya (Daisy of Love), Dan Winton (Hollywood Roses) and many others.
On August 15, 1995, Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil and then wife Sharise Ruddell, lost their daughter, Skylar Neil. Skylar died of cancer at the age of 4. Vince Neil founded the Skylar Neil Memorial Fund in her honor. Since that time, Neil and the foundation have raised awareness and funding for various children’s illnesses. The Skylar Neil Memorial Foundation has donated millions of dollars to The T.J. Martell Foundation, and it sponsors an annual golf tournament to raise money for children with cancer.
Cruefest Hollywood is an annual celebrity fund raiser to benefit The Skylar Neil Foundation for Leukemia Research, which took place on the legendary Sunset Strip at The Whisky A Go Go. Fans interested in donating can send money to:
