Tikva ~ DJ
Tikva spent most of her childhood in front of, near, or within earshot of a radio. She listened to the weekly countdowns religiously. She made dorky little mix tapes long before getting her first boom box by placing a crappy tape recorder in front of the speaker and pushing record whenever a good song came on. When other kids would get in trouble and have their TV privileges taken away for a week, she would have to do without radio for a week, and it always felt like the longest week ever. In other words, radio was her first love.
As she got older, she met a lot of geeks. And she started getting a funny feeling, like that feeling you get from climbing the rope in gym class, despite the fact that she never actually successfully climbed the rope in gym class. Geeks didn’t quite fit in. She could identify with that. Geeks were smart and sexy and funny, but not everyone recognized that about them. And so geeks and geekery became her second love.
